Vienna dispatch reports the ice in the Vistula river piling up on the Austro Russian frontier near Drikova. The river breached a dyke flooding thirty villages, leaving thousands homeless and hungry. Cattle losses reported as well.
A mother not over sixteen left a newborn wrapped in a sheet and dropped from a second story window. The baby was found later and survived. Police arrested Miss Adams and Hon. J W Perry, who denied knowledge of the act. Perry had registered with Miss Adams at Hunts Hotel, and Adams was intercepted after leaving the city.
A blaze at the Grand Central Hotel in Oakland starting around two this morning spread amid gale winds and destroyed the Grand Central, Webster House, and five other buildings. Grand Central valued at 250000 with partial insurance. Webster House at 20000 uninsured. other losses about 3000. The Grand Central was a wooden four story structure about seven years old built by the late Michael Reese. Military maneuvers near St Perrasnens begin with a large sham fight planned.

A nine year old girl named Gerge Jones fell from a wagon near Tecumseh while returning from church. Her skull fractured she died about thirty minutes later.
