Universal military training vote in Senate outcome
Washington March 9 universal military training to day won 68 to 20 a test vote in the senate. The roll call defeated an effort to strip the long term program from the draft manpower bill. Provisions call for every 18 year old to serve at least six months of military training. The measure to expand selective service act expires July 9. Leaders expected to beat down amendments and pass the broad universal military training and service act.
