Tax Free Bonds Debate Shapes Up In Kansas Legislature
Topeka Kan March Associated Press The Kansas legislature nears a decision on tax exempt state bonds after trimming from the millage tax bill a clause that would exempt municipal and state bonds. A house bill granting the exemption was rushed through and sent to the governor as the senate clears its calendar. The house also passed a bus line regulation bill by 30 to 3 with amendments. Gray of the senate roads committee supported it hoping conference could adjust license fees. The biennial appropriations include 250,500 for the Olathe School for the Deaf and 107,000 for the Kansas City School for the Blind. A bill by Martin Reno would let state board suits be filed in any affected county rather than Shawnee county.
