Fishing season begins with rough start and icy missteps
A narrator describes a poor fishing start with an early ice trip that failed as four-wheeler tires sink in thawed ground. Fred Osborn and Arden Gray join the speaker in pushing a stuck pickup, then shift to Clinton in hopes of better fishing conditions.

Wild Turkeys Expand in Kansas Across State Range
Kansas Fish and Game biologists report a rising wild turkey presence with Rio Grande and Eastern types now established. Rio Grande numbers exceed 7,000 statewide, up from fewer than 200 in 1964, with expansion into southcentral, southwestern and northwestern Kansas. Eastern turkeys, imported from Missouri and Iowa, have been released in several eastern counties and are planned for more in Douglas and surrounding areas. Biologists note habitat fits for each type, and that overall statewide population is likely 7,000 to 8,000, with habitat able to sustain more. Mike Willhite, district wildlife biologist, notes ongoing trapping and cross-state stocking to broaden distribution. Also included are local sport notes and a fishing narrative from Clinton and nearby lakes.
