Eight seek City Commission posts and six seek School Board seats with a primary next Tuesday narrowing Commission candidates to six. Dr Kennedy a Lawrence native and veteran pharmacist of civic work outlined aims benefiting youth and older residents and Chaney cited focus on school construction styles and budget impacts. The filing deadline is tonight and the general election is April 2.

Imre Kulésar, a Garden City native and former Hungarian grain elevator worker, is reunited with his wife and three daughters 13 years after fleeing Hungary in 1944. St Joseph Man Guilty Of Murdering Reporter
William Eugene Morgan, 26 year old epileptic, was convicted of murder and given a life term for killing Richard Skram, 20, a St. Joseph Gazette reporter. Wellsville city council opened bids for a new disposal plant. Donaldson Engineering and Construction Co. of Maryville, Mo. submitted the lowest bid at 109000 dollars for construction with cyclones and two stage digestion. The firm pledges completion within seven months and the plant is sized for growth to 1500 population. The federal government will cover 30 percent of the cost.

In a special election Pleasant Prairie District 43 west of Tomsanaoie on Highway 16 voted to consolidate with Tongnosie Grade School District 23 by a 3b to M4 margin after prior defeats. Pleasant Prairie lists 15 pupils this year and projects 1 to 14 next year.
