Wholesale prices declined in February for the third consecutive month led by a 4.6 percent drop in farm products and a 2.8 percent fall in processed foods. The Labor Department noted the index stood at 171.3 percent of the 1967 average, while consumer prices had yet to show declines.
Israeli soldiers seized the eighth guerrilla and saved him from a mob after a Tel Aviv hotel blast killed at least nine. Seven hours earlier troops killed seven militants at the Savoy Hotel near the U S Embassy, with hostages reported but no confirmed American casualties.
Secretary of State Henry Kissinger encountered a 400 strong protest in Cardiff as he and his wife left ceremonies with British officials. The demonstrators, mainly Cypriots and Marxists, criticized U S policy on Cyprus and the Middle East while security kept them apart. Kissinger aims to press for an Israeli withdrawal in Sinai on his trip to the Middle East, with meetings in Brussels and Egypt planned.
Kansas Power and Light faces an 8.4 percent overall rate increase approved by the Kansas Corporation Commission affecting Lawrence.
