U S Farm Income Down By About One Billion Dollars
U S farm income fell nearly one billion dollars last year while nonfarm income rose above 1934 levels. Farm income totaled just over 19 billion dollars with an average of 860 dollars per person, against 20 billion and 913 dollars in 1954. Nonfarm income reached 275 billion dollars for 1922 per person, above farm levels. A 10 percent drop in farm product costs and a 3 percent rise in volume helped offset some losses.
