Convention split over fair treatment at McKinley faction break
At the State Convention in Florida Republican factions split as Gunby supporters bolt the hall claiming unfair treatment. Baganites form a permanent organization with 140 delegates present and nominate four at large to the national convention. Delegates are uninstructed and pro McKinley with Reed as likely second choice. Two congressional conventions select McKinley delegates. The World reports President Cleveland may appoint a military commission to Cuba, with Gen. Wesley Merritt summoned to Washington.
