PBS KCPT in Kansas City MO will broadcast Fast Break The Legendary John McLendon at 830 p.m. on March 13 16 and 18. The film profiles McLendon the first black physical education graduate from the University of Kansas mentored by James Naismith and traces his coaching career across high school college professional and Olympic levels. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor in 1979 and posthumously as a coach in 2016.

They interviewed about 60 people over more than three years and used footage of McLendon from an earlier documentary plus coaches players and writers to show his key role in modernizing basketball and his obscurity at KU.
