Texas Tech led early but Kansas State K Us Jayhawks surged into a 6-0 run to seize the lead. Langford and Collison paced KU with 14 and 6 points respectively while Emmett led Texas Tech with 10 in the first half.
Kansas opened with a 13 point lead at 45 32 before Texas Tech rallied to 59 53. Aaron Miles answered with back to back buckets. Kansas shot 11 of 26 from the field in both halves and held a 40 28 edge in points in the paint. Langford 20 points, Collison 13, Hinrich 10, Miles 10. Tech leaders Emmett 16, Powell 10, Powell 10 boards, Emmett 6 boards. Langford 4 assists, Collison 3 blocks.
Texas Tech, 15-10 overall and 5-9 in the Big 12, fell 65-56 at United Spirit Arena after a 76-71 loss to Texas. Coach Bob Knight cited better teams and hinted at an NIT berth as NCAA hopes dim. Andre Emmett led Tech with 16 points amid shooting struggles.
Kansas locked up a share of the Big 12 title after a 90-87 victory over Texas Tech. Langford hit 10 of 13 from the field, Collison scored 13 on 6 of 11, Hinrich and Miles added 10 each as KU shot 55.8 percent to Tech’s 42.3. Miles recovered from an airball, then fed a fastbreak layup to restore a double-digit lead as KU faced Andre Emmett and closed out the game.
