Senate Passes Six Highway Bills for State System
In Topeka on March 3 the senate sent six highway measures to the house. They create a state highway system linking county seats and market centers, form a three member highway commission, repeal the benefit district law, and establish state and county road funds with allocations for maintenance and construction. The package includes limits on reimbursements, director salaries, and road marker penalties. The vote favored repeal with concerns over districts already under contract and fears of future funding gaps.
