Lawrence native First Lieutenant Furry Ziesenis of the 24th Signal Battalion died of wounds received in battle near Romagne France on October 24. He previously served in Kansas National Guard and the University of Kansas, married Katherine Hollaway December 24 1917, and went overseas with the Smith Division in June 1918.
