Sprint Nex Tel spin off to form Embarq unit in Kansas
Kansas regulators will drop plans to block Sprint Nextel Corp. from spinning off its local division into Embarq. The move requires regulator approval in 14 of 18 states. Separately, January spending rose 0.9 percent while construction grew 0.2 percent. An Interior Dept official says oil and gas royalties were improperly avoided on Gulf leases due to a dropped threshold clause affecting over 1,100 leases.
