SAM organizer Sarah Lenti notes the 527 group has raised about $1.4 million from 109 donors and aims to broaden ballot choices. Bills combine and then split in Kansas House education bills
Democrats hoped the combined bill would lift due process provisions to the floor while Republicans opposing due process rights blocked it. Late in the week both bills were reintroduced as separate measures through the Taxation Committee. HB 2757 covers teacher due process and HB 2758 covers bullying policies. Tom Witt of Equality Kansas notes uneven district implementation of the 2007 anti bullying statute and says broad Bipartisan support exists for the bullying measure but less for the due process bill.
