Masonic Temple tax break push aims to save landmark
Lawrence businessmen Doug Compton and Steve Maceli seek a 15 year property tax rebate under the Neighborhood Revitalization Act plus cash for a $70,000 fire sprinkler system for the 1910 Masonic Temple at 10th and Massachusetts. The group plans to lease the site for Maceli’s catering and events, preserving the building’s copper ceilings grand hall and old Reuter organ as city incentives are reviewed by PIRC and the City Commission.
