Nancy Rose Carter 21 of Lecompton is listed in fairly good condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a shotgun wound to the left arm legs and back. Deputy Sheriff said husband John 22 was replacing a gun in a wall rack when a second gun fired hitting her through a wall. Carter told authorities he was teaching wife to use a gun amid prowler concerns.

Funerals Set For Grandfather and Grandson Killed In Crash
In Liberal Kansas a 10-year-old boy Christopher McCaleb and his grandfather died after a motorcycle given by Vernon Texas relatives collided with a car on a county road in the Oklahoma Panhandle near Liberal. The grandfather died of a heart seizure on hearing of the boy’s death and his wife was hospitalized in critical condition. Burial planned in Vernon and in the Texas community.
