Rags to Riches Widow Seeks Guidance on Loss and Legacy
Dear Ann Landers recounts a widow who discovers substantial savings and a life policy after decades of poverty. She wrestles with anger and asks how to enjoy her remaining years while adjusting to newfound wealth. Ann explains the husband’s secret hoarding stemmed from mental illness and urges forgiveness. A separate letter requests help for three children in a custody dispute amid financial strain and a drunken ex-husband. Ann suggests Legal Aid and juvenile authorities as avenues for custody action.
