Six Hurt in City Traffic Mishaps This Week

Six persons sustained minor injuries in three separate city traffic accidents. At 1 10 a m on 9th and Ky Turner 25 received cuts and bruises. Haas 72 head cuts was thrown from his car. Nelson 23 suffered cuts on Engel Road. A 4 18 p m crash at 19th and Haskell left Pherigo 9 with scrapes and a cut lip. At 5 30 p m on 9th Street Hastings 47 had a forehead cut and Glynda Bailey 20 scrapes after a car and motorcycle collided.

Maxwell elected vice president at Kansas City insurance firm

Dale W. Maxwell of Lawrence has been elected a vice president of R. B. Jones and Sons Inc. of Kansas City. He will handle insurance and surety bonds for construction. A former Kansas Highway Commission right of way chief and former Maxwell Bridge Co. president, he is a Kansas University graduate practicing law. Deer hunter ends 40 year drought with fatal collision

Doublie Mark reported from Lakeville Mass where Paul Scholz aged 68, after 40 years of deer hunting without a kill and 50 years without an accident, fatally rammed a deer with his car as it bolted from trees, ending a long drought and causing a fatal accident.

Lawrence summer school sessions cancel for July 4 holiday

Lawrence Unified School District No 497 will not meet Monday or Tuesday due to the July 4 holiday. Jacki Garland, formerly of Lawrence, is a featured dancer at the Latin Quarter in New York City. Daughter of Mrs. S. J. Garland of 443 Ala., Miss Garland recently completed a tour with the Half-a-Sixpence troupe in the lead danc ing role. At the Latin Quarter she appears in two shows each night Monday through Friday and in a Saturday afternoon matinee.
