Harvard beat Yale in New London on June 30 winning both the freshmen eight and the varsity four races. Freshmen eight time 11 04 to 12 02 over two miles, varsity four 13 01 to 13 18. The regatta showcased two decisive Harvard victories historic in the annual event.
Miss Florence Burge and Guy Elmore Diehl wed in Topeka then escaped in a car, skipping plans for a Canadian border honeymoon. The couple’s ruse drew many telegrams of well wishes, while Diehl, a mining engineer from Duluth, Minnesota, was identified with the new marriage.
In Guthrie Oklahoma June 30 Attorney General West failed to secure a temporary suspension of an injunction barring transfer of state records from Guthrie. The state supreme court issued a writ returnable at 3 this afternoon prompting Guthrie counsel to show cause why a writ of prohibition should not be issued.
Wheat and corn futures show varied prices with June and July contracts listed. Cash markets note oats, rye and hay values plus dairy and packing prices. Live stock receipts reach thousands with beef, stockers and feeders priced around 1.85 to 3.50 per unit and hogs around 8 to 9 dollars per hundredweight depending on grade.

The Merchants and Miners steamship Greenian carrying over 100 people left Philadelphia for Boston yesterday and returned today with a serious fire in the forehold. All passengers were landed safely and the vessel was brought to port for inspection.

Lynchburg Virginia June 30 John W Daniel senior senator from Virginia died at the Lynchburg sanitarium from a cerebral hemorrhage tied to paralysis. His illness began with apoplexy in Philadelphia last October kept him from Congress opening last December. He appeared only once since then for an informal talk in January. The end came last night with little struggle.
