Kingman Kansas June 29 CP Sam Lucas a 50 year old farmer near Murdock was killed instantly when he slipped and fell against a high tension power line blown across a road during a five inch rain. Sheriff Ira Payne reported the accident occurred as Lucas and companions attempted to raise the line after a storm leveled a barn and knocked down uncut wheat over a wide area. Harvesting in the storm area was already below normal with less than half of the grain gathered.
