U S Deficit Seen Slightly Lower Than April Forecast

Forecast for tomorrow calls for scattered thundershowers across most of Kansas with highs mid to upper 80s in central and eastern areas. Robert Pugh Dies Head Machinist at Journal World
Robert Ted Pugh longtime Journal World head machinist and former Navy serviceman died early this morning in a Topeka hospital after a two month illness. He was 61 or 62. Pugh began at the Journal World in 1922 as an apprentice in the composing room, rose to head machinist, and left Kansas briefly in 1944 before returning. He was active in golf, reached city championship finals twice, and was survived by his wife Patience Martin, a son Robert Jr and daughter Diane plus five sisters and three brothers. Funeral arrangements are in Rumsey funeral home with services Monday at 2 p.m.

Firecracker Under Can Injures Local Boy
