Longtime KU librarian Miss Carrie M. Watson dies at 85
Miss Carrie M. Watson aged 85 former University of Kansas librarian died yesterday at her home in Lawrence after a year and a half illness. She served KU 34 years becoming librarian in 1887 and emerita in 1921. Funeral Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church with burial at Oak Hill. She was born in New York state and came to Lawrence in 1858. She is survived by a sister and a niece.

A C Pontius Dies After Illness in Douglas County
Arthur C Pontius 79 longtime Douglas County resident died at his home 117 South Park Street after months of illness. Born July 4 1863 in Circleville Ohio he moved here at 14 and helped organize Kanwaka Congregational Church. He retired from farming in 1920 and lived in Lawrence. eight of nine children survive along with eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday at 10 am Rumsey funeral home with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery conducted by Rev. Paul B. Lawson.
