Defendant Testifies in Breach of Promise Suit
Chicago June 28 AP Frank Lin Hardinge sixty two manufacturer of oil barriers today gave a jury his side of the story in the two hundred fifty thousand dollar breach of promise suit filed against him by Ann Livingston eighty three year old Tulsa divorcee. The plaintiff listened with placid countenance as her former suitor told of the first little flirtation on the rear platform of a train and ensuing complications. He was sitting on the rear platform of a train on his way to California when Ann came. They discussed the weather until they learned they had a common interest in the oil business he repeated. Stardinge denied that he told Ann he was a very lonely man looking for a wife and denied saying he wanted a young woman because he was quite a genius. Ann also had testified that he wanted her to accompany him to California and he denied that. The first letter introduced by the defense was written by Ann from the Rocky Mountain lodge at Grand Lake Colorado. She spoke of being lonely because all of poor little life I have missed love.
