Lawrence School Board to review start time report
The Lawrence school board will consider a report on changing start times as part of its annual goals. Twelve of twenty schools begin at 8 or 8 05 a.m., while eight start at 8 45 a.m. The district uses early starts to stagger schedules and save bus costs. A SCHOOLS committee examined research on later start times and potential effects, with Ron May to present.

Engineers audit city buildings for energy efficiency
A team of 360 Energy Engineers will complete the final of 40 energy audits on Lawrence city owned buildings and facilities including City Hall fire stations recreation centers and parks. The audits review lighting heating cooling water use and insulation to identify cost saving upgrades. Sustainability coordinator Eileen Horn says the goal is energy efficiency and taxpayer savings while addressing deferred maintenance. The commission approved a contract with the Lawrence based firm on May 24.
