Berlin marks 50th Berlin airlift anniversary celebrations
Berliners host a weekend of tributes to the 1948 49 airlift that kept West Berlin supplied after the Soviet blockade. The event includes a 32 cent air lift stamp unveiling at Tempelhof, a Spirit of Freedom flight, candy drop plans, Clinton Koh l speeches, a fashion show of late 1940s attire, a Gershwin program, and a postwar occupation museum opening. The focus honors Gen Lucius Clay and the Allied effort through 1949.
