Wichita Fire Tragedy Claims Child and Others
A downtown Wichita blaze killed one man and injured nine others in an 18 unit building. Alexis Hernandez clutched a teddy bear as she and her infant brother escaped with parents Loranda and Tracy. Firefighters battled flames about three hours while residents fled and several were rescued from ledges.

Funeral services for Dorothy Jameyson Underwood 76 of Lawrence will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Died June 25 1998 at home she studied at KU earning a fine arts degree in 1943 and taught art at Bonner Springs Junior High School until 1972. survivors include son Howard Weaver two daughters Nancy Vanderhooff and Helen Weaver a sister Lenore Richison and five grandchildren. Memorials suggested to the American Lung Association.
