Clinton Lake hosts link for transcontinental ADT trail
Clinton State Park in Kansas develops a 35 mile segment of the 4835 mile American Discovery Trail linking east and west. Coordinator Carl Ringler and a three member scouting team sponsored by Coleman and Chevrolet surveyed the route from Memorial Day 1990 to July 30 1991 passing Lawrence in February 1991. Workers will clear about 15 miles of trail toward Woodridge with planned October start, balancing erosion control environmental impact and historical artifacts while coordinating with the Corps of Engineers Kansas Wildlife and Parks and the state historical society.

An 18 year old Lawrence man was arrested after a disturbance at Hardee’s Restaurant. Two Lawrence police officers were injured during the arrest as a crowd formed outside. One officer was thrown into a patrol car, breaking its windshield and a spotlight. The injured officer was hospitalized with broken ribs and under observation. Proceedings continue on page 13A.
