Eudora school district and city government planned tennis courts but funding shortfall halts progress. School Supt. Charles Hill reports the CPA Picnic group has contributed 500 of the estimated 5000. He hopes funds are found within a year.
Lawrence Municipal Court records show 128 speeders cited last week, 165 appearances, and total fines of 2935.50 dollars. The week included 7 non traffic convictions, 180 traffic convictions, and multiple violations such as traffic signals stop signs yielding right of way and careless driving.
President Nixon enjoys majority approval in a Gallup Poll with 60 percent approving and 32 percent disapproving, while 8 percent have no opinion. The survey was conducted June 16 to 19 in Princeton New Jersey.
The city council enacts Ordinance No 4319 adopting The Uniform Plumbing Code 1970 Edition with amendments and creating a Board of Plumbers Examiners, fees, bonds and penalties to regulate plumbing and gas fitting in Lawrence Kansas. The measure includes permit requirements inspections and licensing for contractors, master and journeyman plumbers and gas fitters. It takes effect after May 30 1972 and is incorporated into the 1972 Code Supplement.
