The party was taken to a Buffalo hotel for care. Mrs. Marshal bore the coffin of Mrs. Brown.
Washington reports a joint caucus of Democratic Senators and Representatives advancing two bills to replace the vetoed judicial appropriation bill. One mirrors the vetoed measure minus the $600,000 marshals item. the second adds the $600,000 with penalties for pre-appropriation contracts and unauthorized commitments. Votes split along party lines. final action slated via the House Appropriations Committee. Chicago races highlight a fast track day with Mollie McCarthy winning the Garden City Cup after a tense stretch duel. Also San Francisco nominates Fillfax for Tax Collector and W N Stanley for Streets Superintendent.

The Rio Grande must pay Santa Fe for Royal Gorge construction costs before occupying that portion.
