KU Trio's steals impact marks 2019-20 Kansas defense
Kansas guards Ochai Agbaji Devon Dotson and Marcus Garrett driven by daily competition turned KU into a top takeaway machine posting 237 steals in 31 games or 7.65 per game the highest team total since 2010-11. They also set a new team share record with 66.2 percent of KU's steals coming from the trio surpassing 64.4 percent set by Graham Jackson and Mason in 2016-17 and 64.3 percent by Chalmers Robinson and Wright in 2006-07. Garrett earned defensive player of the year while Dotson and Agbaji on ball pressure and Azubuike behind them fueled the surge. Garrett framed steals as a game within practice and games with constant competition.
