Paris court upholds Carlos the Jackal life sentence
France's Court of Cassation on Wednesday rejected a final appeal by Ilich Ramirez Sanchez known as Carlos the Jackal. He is serving a life term for the 1975 murders of two French secret agents Raymond Dous and Jean Donatini and an alleged informer Michel Moukharbal. Ramirez, Venezuelan-born, was a Cold War figure tied to bombings and hostage crises, including the 1975 seizure of OPEC ministers and suspected links to the 1976 Entebbe hijacking.
