Duane Pope Returned to Nebraska Prison Before Trial

Stolen Car Found With Six Bullet Holes
A 1963 car stolen from John Haddock Ford in Kansas was recovered in a farm field north of Lecompton with six bullet holes. The driver allegedly backed into a farmer’s gas tank area and then tried to run over the farmer. a farmer and his brother-in-law fired at the fleeing vehicle with a .22 caliber rifle and pistol. No bloodstains were found in the car.

Stanley R. Rood, 17, a 1965 Lawrence High graduate, is in fair condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a motorcycle struck a dump truck north of the city on Peterson Hallmark Road. The driver of the truck Johnny L. Campbell says the cycle swerved into the left turn and collided glancing blows.
