Three Die In Wreck Near Little Rock
June 24. A Missouri Pacific freight wreck in a field near the city left three dead as eight were injured. Four city firemen were burned fighting a gasoline tank blaze. Bodies were charred and not yet identified. The wreck involved seventeen cars carrying cattle vegetables and oil. Dispatcher and poet Oliver Griffith Crawford died at his home in Wellington Kansas aged sixty. He used Griff Crawford as a pen name and left a widow six daughters and three sons. In Juneau Alaska a brief riot and gas bomb explosion occurred as non union and special police tried to reopen the Alaska Juneau gold mine.
