Washington June 24 AP Charles A Lindbergh says he conferred with officials on creating a nationwide passenger carrying air system. Committees will draft detailed plans including routes and organizational structure with a further announcement expected in about two weeks.
Grading for federal highway 73W south of Jaawrence is underway with G C Metz stating active work tomorrow. Channel changes should finish in about a week before trading begins. Slab laying near Midland at the sill highs day north of Lawrence completes today and crews move toward the county line to resume Monday.

The Smoky Hill river rose to 23.3 feet at Mentor by 8 am, up 1.1 feet since Thursday afternoon, still rising. East of Salina the river broke banks flooding farms, with dykes being built and some landowners preparing to move. In Salina no major damage yet, water seeping through Claflin Hall at Oakdale Park.

County warrants issued for possession and transportation as well as a warrant for the car. Bishop’s prior arrest for selling liquor listed. Four five gallon bottles and two large bottles of liquor declared by a chemist as containing gonad alcohol were found.
Lawrence Pearle led generous support for the American Red Cross shoe appeal. More than twenty large packing cases contain 3,500 pairs to aid flood sufferers. Merchants donated unsold goods and volunteers sorted and packed the shoes for shipment. The Hoy Scouts and university students contributed footwear in a city effort.
