FDA to phase out trans fats over three years
The FDA said it will require food companies to eliminate trans fats within three years due to public health concerns. Trans fats, found in frostings, pie crusts, biscuits, microwave popcorn, coffee creamers, frozen pizza, refrigerated dough, vegetable shortenings and margarine, raise bad cholesterol and lower good cholesterol, increasing heart disease risk.
