Two youthful cyclists Eugene Hardtaker aged 2 and Carl Wiggins age 11 were thrown from their bicycle on Highway 10 one mile east of Lawrence when a westbound car driven by Boyd Plummer Kansas City could not stop. Plummer reported he tried but the bicycle entered the road from a side street. The car ran over the rear wheel.
