Wool pool sales bring $2700 for Douglas county growers
The Douglas county wool pool sold through Brown & Co. of Kansas City brought $2,700 in Lawrence. High bids ranged from 50 to 56 cents a pound for western and bright medium wool, with dirty wool fetching as low as 5 cents. Farmers praised pooling for timely payments and direct involvement in grading, contrasting with lengthy waits under individual markets. John Heinen of St. Louis bought about 100 pounds from Baldwin-area growers, in addition to Lawrence disposals.
