City studies compressed natural gas fueling for fleets
The city’s research into compressed natural gas may lead to a larger fueling station to serve big vehicle fleets. Zarco owner Scott Zaremba already has a site plan for a retail fueling station near Ninth and Iowa. Black Hills Energy operates four natural gas vehicles here and plans more, with a public station costing about 150000 and larger setups ranging 600000 to 1 million. Conversion costs for city fleet pickups run 9500 to 11000, with payback around 45000 miles driven. The city will gather data over the next year to decide on expansion.
