Two Manhattan crashes injure nearly twenty people
In Manhattan two separate Friday crashes injured about 20 pedestrians. A 60 year old driver in Chinatown accelerated into a sidewalk bench crowd, leaving two seriously hurt but stable and five with lesser injuries. In the Garment District a 23 year old unlicensed driver struck ten people, four untreated, six hospitalized and the owner cited for allowing the drive. The driver faced no criminal charges. A clinic owner was charged with posing as a doctor amid alleged abortion procedures and related hospitalizations. Bertha Pinedo Bugarin, 48, arrested after a yearlong probe on 10 felony counts including unlicensed medical procedures and grand theft, facing over nine years if convicted.
