Kansas tax relief bill trims personal rates and boosts exemptions
The measure shifts Kansas from three personal income tax rates to two, lowers the top rate from 5.7% to 5.58%, and doubles the child care tax credit. It exempts a married couple earning over $25,000 from tax sooner, exempts Social Security for retirees with income over $75,000, doubles the child care credit, and cuts 14% in tax for financial institutions instead of corporate tax. Local property taxes remain a major concern, driven by local rates and rising home values.
