Just Food Kansas report highlights hunger rise after pandemic
Just Food executive Keever says curbside demand rose during the pandemic while in person numbers dropped. The Douglas County pantry aimed to feed two of every three children at risk, but COVID-19 stunted progress as childhood food insecurity climbed 30 percent in one year. Community funding, 17 percent from events and 16 percent from donations, funds most efforts after major fundraisers were canceled. Donations via justfoodks.org are encouraged to stock shelves this summer, its peak need period.
