Lawrence couples wed in three June ceremonies
A sequence of Lawrence area weddings unfolds with Alizon Smith and David Reber marrying May 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence. The couple resides in Lawrence as the bride pursues biology and environmental studies at KU and the groom works in wildlife services after KU-based studies. A second couple, Gwendal Alcala and Rodney Bruce, wed June 6 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with a large local wedding party and reception. The bride plans nursing school graduation, and the groom attends Johnson County Community College while working as an emergency technician. A third couple, Andrea Boyd and Gary Steinle, tied the knot June 6 at Danforth Chapel on the KU campus with a full KU-connected wedding party. both graduates of KU 1990, they pursue advanced degrees as she works toward geology and he toward urban planning.

At Fredonia Smith home on June 10 the 4-H group Cheechakos Ehu learned outdoor cookery led by Carolyn Woodhead and earned a gold seal for their charter. Recyclables were collected and a video on the name change to FCE Family Community Education was viewed. The next meeting is July 14 at Lyn Walther’s home with a holiday decorations lesson. Vice President Kenny Kalb presided June 1. Lindsey Burgess led the flag salute. Reports were given and the tour committee announced a July 11 club tour.
