Drowning and flood damage hit Kansas as rain continues
A 19 year old Fort Riley soldier Willie J Holmes of Dermott Arkansas drowned in Rimrock Creek after a wall of water swept through Custer Hill during a ROTC cadet convoy. Capt John Firth of UT Arlington ROTC survived after hours clinging to a tree. Flash flood warnings persisted as a fourth night of rain swelled rivers and delayed wheat harvests across the state. National Guardsmen were deployed for looting fears and Ogden flood damage prompted evacuations and about 200 mobile homes. Mayor Ben Gieber put damage near 1 million dollars as crews tallied losses.

KU to Open Drug Design Lab on West Campus
