Minnesota ore taxes net state over three million
Minnesota's wealth increased by more than 3 million dollars from the June 1928 collection of occupational and ray taxes on iron ore deposits. Nearly half of the amount was paid by Oliver Iron Mining of Duluth, a subsidiary of United States Steel. A French tapestry from the national factory brings 600 to 1800 a foot, with workers yielding only two or three square feet yearly.
