Lecompton debates three mile buffer zone plan
At a Lecompton meeting residents debated a proposed three mile buffer zone affecting planning and zoning. The zone would not tax buffer residents or grant them city voting rights though it would fall under the Planning and Zoning Commission. Critics urged clearer maps and noted fears of losing land value and development control while supporters framed it as growth management to keep Lawrence out.
