Two Small Boys Die in Topeka Car Crash
In Topeka on Saturday night two year old Ernest LeRoy Woodard and nine month old Lonnie Ray Woodard were killed when their car collided with a truck at an intersection. Their father Ernest Woodard and mother remained unaware of the deaths as they treated injuries to Larry Duane Woodard aged three and Kenneth Eugene Clark and Harlan Stoltenberg both fifteen. The injured were not in critical condition and the crash also involved Clark and Stoltenberg riding in the truck.

Cool air moves into Kansas lowering temperatures
A cool air wave swept into Kansas on June 18 pushing readings into the 50s and 60s across most of the state with Hutchinson earlier reaching 100 degrees. Skies were generally fair tonight and Tuesday with a brief chance of precipitation confined to the southwest. Readings fell to 54 degrees at Goodland, while highs near 76 were recorded there later in the day.

Plan New Water Main To Run From Sixth To Seventh Street
City water department workers began preliminary work today on a new 8 inch water main from Sixth and Massachusetts to Seventh and New Hampshire streets. Major C Hagar, water superintendent, notes the 4 inch main now in use is too small for the future and is being replaced before work on the Sixth Street trafficway. Extension of water service to the southwest area is about 40 percent complete, and a 16 inch main in the area between Fourteenth and Sixteenth Streets is being laid as an extension of Louisiana Street.

County Engineer Rice Confined With Pneumonia At Home
County Engineer Rice is confined to his home with pneumonia. While driving home Saturday at noon he lost consciousness and his car collided with another driven by W D Bantz at the Ninth and Indiana intersection. The Bantz car was slightly damaged. Rice was taken to his home at 908 Missouri street and his physician diagnosed pneumonia. His condition is not serious.
