Todd Chapple, former Alvamar assistant pro now at Eudora West, channels a golf fixation into a home course in his basement the Dunes at the Jayhawk Lounge. He plays five to six days a week at Alvamar, built a one-hole green with Astro Turf and crushed rock, plants flowers, and tutors his kids in the short game while recalling prime courses and local figures.
Randy Towner, head pro at Alvamar Golf Course, offers a Lawrence golf tip focusing on an uphill hole with a castle-like backdrop. He advises accurate tee shots, club selection for inclines, and practicing wedges and 9 irons for greens while avoiding 3 irons.
