Cemetery history amid suburbia near Davis farm site
The Watkins Community Museum recounts the Davis Cemetery plot set aside for the G H Davis family who farmed west of town starting in 1863. George Burt, an early partner, was killed by Quantrill’s raiders and buried there. Henry T Davis later owned the 160 acre farm, with the bar and grill at 3520 W Sixth named for him. The nine plots draw curious visitors from the nearby bar, car wash, and surrounding suburbia.
