Milton Merwin aged 30 died Saturday afternoon at Hillview golf course south of town after collapsing while resting on a few holes. Born in Iola, he lived in Lawrence since 1908 and worked as a postal clerk for about 22 years. A veteran of World War I, he was active in golf and fishing and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Hue Tadge, and local gun club. He survived by his wife Stadler, his father, one sister and a brother. services will be held at Rumsey funeral home with grave side rites by the American Legion.
