Senate Approves Farm Board Funding Amid Quick Action
The Senate Appropriations Committee approved a bill to authorize 151.5 million dollars for the federal farm board to begin stabilizing agriculture. Chairman Warren said swift Senate action would follow Hoover’s recommendation, with the House having already passed part of the 500 million dollar Farm Relief Act. The bill funds 150 million for operations and 1.5 million for expenses, with debate limited by a suspension of the rules. Representative Garner questioned why the full 850 million was not appropriated, and Wood noted the President’s view on immediate needs.
